Project Assistant - FILLED
We are currently recruiting for a Project Assistant for a research project led by a respected Director in the public health sector located in Burnaby. They are seeking an individual to provide administrative and analytic support including working with a variety of stakeholders and advisory boards. Due to the small size of the organization, this individual is expected to demonstrate flexibility in taking on other duties as needed. The incumbent is expected to exercise considerable tact, discretion and judgment.
Administration Duties will Include:
- Develop agendas, schedule and organize meetings or conferences
- Assist in the organization of advisory board meetings
- Generate reports and/or minutes from meetings
- Perform other administrative functions as needed
- Liaise with stakeholders in the practitioner, academic and policy maker sectors
Research and Analysis Duties:
- Provide research and analytic support to management
- Conduct literature and internet searches
- Conduct literature and document reviews
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Highly organized, detail oriented and thorough
- Experience with project management
- Experience in coordinating senior level meetings, planning workshops and events
- Experience in developing correspondence and short documents, manipulating and analyzing data, creating statistical and descriptive reports
- Experience working with stakeholder groups (e.g. public health practitioners , public and voluntary partners, Federal and Provincial agencies)
- Experience in public health, academic, or government environment
- Able to produce and edit visually appealing documents
- Able to balance competing priorities under pressure and to deliver expected results on time
- Able to manage a diverse workload, multi-task and set priorities
- Willingness to learn
- Able to function effectively in a complex and fast paced team environment
- Able to work with little supervision and be proactive
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook a must (Microsoft Project and Access desirable but not necessary). Applicants will be tested on their abilities with Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Post-secondary education in social sciences
- Understanding of public health practice
- Knowledge of program planning and evaluation
- Bilingual in English and French an asset
Please note that this position may require overnight travel for meetings and conferences and may require occasional work outside of regular work days/hours.
